Historic Tours around Zululand

Military History Tours

Depending on your interest tours can be arranged with the emphasis on: Zulu vs. Zulu

It was on his return from exile to this valley as a young warrior that Shaka claimed the throne of the Zulu clan and set about building his empire from his capital Buluwayo.

A visit to view Gqokli Hill, the site where he first defeated the rival Ndwandwe clan is a lesson in military tactics.

Zulu vs. Voortrekkers

Mgungundlovu‚ is Dingaan's capital which he built in the valley after assassinating Shaka. Near it is Matiwane Hill, the site where he had the Voortrekkers leader Piet Retief and his followers put to death.

Battle of Ithaleni - Vlug Kommando

Visit the site where the descendants of Piet Uys claim where the battle took place.

Battle of Ophathe Gorge - Wen Kommando

Look down the valley where the Voortrekkers and Alexander Biggar were entrapped by the wily Zulu.

Zulu vs. British

From the heights of Mtonjaneni, follow the route that Lord Chelmsford must have taken to the White Imfolozi from where he launched his final attack on Ondini finally to destroy the Zulu order.
